Stages to go through to get the industrial wastewater purified
Although the beneficial factors of industries are inevitable, the contaminated water arising from the same entities is hurting the environment to the same extent. However, we cannot shut down all the industries that are producing chemically polluted wastewater. All we could do is to encourage the industries to have the necessary water treatment technology and do the required processes to clean the water before letting it out. Once they do so, only purified water will get mixed into rivers or lakes. So, the health hazards due to this contamination can be reduced to a greater extent. Several technology companies have come up to help industries in this treatment process. It will be helpful if you understand the various stages the contaminated water should go through to get purified. Let us discuss these processes in brief in this article.
Primary wastewater treatment
As the name suggests, it is the first stage of treatment of contaminated water. In this process, the contaminated water will be kept in larger tanks to let the heavier and bulkier particles settle down at the bottom. As there would be some mechanisms beneath the tank, these particles will get extracted out later. Only the water with other kinds of impurities will be left. So, it will move to the next stage.
Secondary wastewater treatment
In this deeper purification process, the remaining water will get introduced to some microorganisms that would help in biological degradation. At the same time, the process of aeration takes place and the oxygen saturation will be kept in place. So, all the minute impurities would die away and the water will get oxidized. Some filtration activities will also take place.
Tertiary wastewater management
In this stage, the purified water is still treated to make sure that the water is reusable and consumable. Usually, municipalities would do this. This often uses more advanced membrane technologies such as reverse osmosis.
